Are all portable player CAR KITS the same?

I lost my Sony MD player car kit and was thinking of going into RatShack and picking up a regular one (i assume they have em?). Would it work? Are all car kits the same? Or do MD players use some sort of a custom connector?

No, they are all basically the same

The only thing that could be different is the cigarette lighter power adapter. My i-River won't work with the standard power adapter I had for my other CD player. It needs 4.5v 300ma.
