Are all PIII's Socket 370?

Tualatin Celerons (1.1GHz - 1.4GHz) run great at 133FSB, making them 1.46 - 1.86GHz respectively. Since core/die is identicle to Tualatin P3s (desktop version, not P3-S with 512K), it was a nice cheap bump in speed. My Celeron 1.3@1.7 matches my P4/2.53 for FAD, F@H and SETI production.

You should be able to use either
- Cuppermine PIII up to 1000Mhz (133Mhz x 7.5), 256k cache, FCPGA
- Cuppermine Celeron up to 1100Mhz (100Mhz x 11), 128k cache, FCPGA

or by using a Tualatin adapter
- Tualatin Celeron up to 1400Mhz (100Mhz x 14), 256k cache, FCPGA2
- Tualatin PIII up to 1400Mhz (133Mhz x 10.5), 512k cache, FCPGA2

You can get the Tualatin adapter for $5 plus shipping from Compgeeks.com, but it's not 100% guarantee that it works with your Compaq motherboard. I have upgraded quite a few Socket 370 systems with Tualatin Celeron, and I have had some systems which just do not work with it.

If I were you, I would get 1.0 - 1.1Ghz Cuppermine Celeron (if you want to play safe) or 1.3 - 1.4Ghz Tualatin Celeron & adapter (if you like to try it out). I don't think that it's worth the money to spend $$ on either PIII, especially when you can get a Duron 1.6Ghz & MB combo at Fry's for $39.

You might want to check your motherboard. There might be a jumper comfiguring the FSB somewhere. Automatic FSB detection of Socket 370 motherboards do not work that well, so there might be a good chance that there is a jumper.
