I just want to ask the current/past users of MS optical mouses...Have u ever had any porblems with it them...
My past exepriance with them is miserable ...had 3 fail on me . 2 original Intelli Opitcal explorer and a improved Intellimouse Optical (the for buttom white one with 33% faster engine ) All of them the loose cable problem.
Have any users of there later version have similar problems?

Nope, I'm still using my Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer (the same one that I won from MSDN's contest back in late 1999/2000). No problems with mine.

I'm using the Logitech Cordless Optical Mouse, it works great. Good resolution, nice design and scrollwheel. I'd say nearly good as Microsoft's
cordless optical mouse, which has the side buttons and a better shape perhaps (logitech is cheaper)

Can't go wrong with either of the two.

Yep, I'm still using a Microsoft Intellimouse Pro and it still has yet to die or cause problems.

I had huge problems with early explorer opticals and dodgy wiring. They seem to have fixed that now and I reckon the new MS explorer is the best optical out there

Microsoft Mice SUCK A BIG FAT ONE:|:|

I've gone through THREE Explorers. All ended up loosening at the tail/base connection and kept flaking on and off. Ditched it and got a Logitech Optial Scroll. Couldn't be happier.

I've been living on Microsoft mice for years now and never had problems. The two Intellimouse Explorers are still as great as ever. I find that I need to use a mousepad though. They tend to skip around on my woodgrain desk.

Microsoft made some of the best rodents out there. I've used Logitech and Microsoft wheelmice, and the only difference I've noticed is that the buttons on the Microsoft mouse did not wear out, as with the Logitech mouse where the mouse button eventually got annoying to click on, the MS mouse was still good.

well at work i was the one who had to order replacement mice. ( and other stuff). The logitechs general had a much lower failure rate compared to the MS mice.

I have 2 MS Intelli-Mouse Opticals and I am very happy with them. My first one is I think over 2 years old (not completely sure) and has just recently started having problems (it stutters when going over black lines on my mouse pad). I'm not surprised considering I have beat the $#@! out of it. I have a small collection of pieces that have broken and fallen out of it. But that is not its fault. My other one is only a few weeks old and working perfectly.

I have looked at a lot of mice and have yet to find one that suits me better. I absolutely need 4 buttons which is why I don't have a Logitech. I have tried the Logitech Cordless Optical mouse twice and both times sold it because I like the Intelli-Mouse better.

I believe Logitech mice are significantly more durable than Microsoft's but I really love the Intelli-Mouse Optical. So until something better comes out, I'm sticking with that.

I think I have more MS hardware than software.
MS Optical USB wheel mouse...works great
MS Internet keyboard...also very nice
MS DSS80 speakers...still going strong.
