I am thinking of build a new computer again, the last time was in the dark ages(386). I'll be getting some help from people who know what they are doing, but they will pretty much teach me what I need to know so that in the future I will be able to upgrade my computer on my own. My question is this, I have so far narrowed down all my components down to 2 or 3 choices. All I have left is to choose the Brand of memory.I am going with PC133 Sdram. I want to know if they are any companies I want to stay away from, or is "Memory just Memory" like a co-worker told me.

Thanks
Cosmo

btw this will be a gaming computer(if this helps)

If all you care about is the memory working at it's rated speed, ie you plug it in & it works, then your coworker is partially correct.

If you're a performance freak, like most people here, you'll want premium memory. Premium memory can frequently run at speeds approaching 160 MHz, & runs at CAS2 instead of CAS3.

At the very least, buy memory that's rated to 133 MHz CAS2. If you don't plan on playing with FSB's above 133, you don't need to worry about the "PC143" or "PC150" stuff that's available. Yes, it's awesome memory, I have some Mosel myself. But you won't see a bit of difference if you don't push the limits.

I always buy the best......then I've got room if I want to O/C and good ram to sell if the prices are high!😉
