Are all "codgers" old?

Well, what say you, great minds of the Internet? Are all codgers old or is it possible to be a young codger? Perhaps there are distinctions such as male and female codgers. Can dog and cats be codgers? How about fishes?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Dictionary.com says that it's possible, though it seems to imply that to be a true codger you'd probably have to be old.

Then, in a pure sense, it is possible to be a child codger. Interesting.

I'm more of a curmudgeon myself, but I think you can be a codger at any age.

I believe that curmudgeon is a distinction that must be earned, whereas codger is based more on attitude.

Some codgers are crazy. If you offer them a beer, they'll avoid it.

They're daft codger draft dodgers.
