Are all B-Die memory kits created equal?

Apart from XMP profiles, are there any actual differences between the various Samsung B-Die memory kits on the market today? In other words, if I'm a competent overclocker, would it be a waste of money to buy anything other than the cheapest B-Die kit I can find?

This is a very good question, which I would like to know the answer to as well.

I suspect binning comes into play. I would not expect identical chips sold at very different prices and with very different advertised speeds to have identical top end OCs.

That said, I would expect anything within the top 1/3 of advertised speeds to have similar maximum OCs.

G.Skill and i'm assuming most other brands bin their chips, so yes there is a difference. There can also be differences in the PCB of the module that help make it possible to achieve very high clocks, but mostly it's binning.

You may get a slightly higher oc if you chose a 3600c15 kit but a 3200c14 kit will hit high speeds no problem with enough vdimm.
