Are AH-IPS panels supposed to only be in 6 bit?

How can they make RGB6 displays and call them IPS panels? Is any particular IPS variety supposed to always be 8 or 10 bit?

That's true... it is "in-plane switching" not "8 bit panels". It's still not good that RGB6 panels are being sold though.

It's a total mess, I agree. I blame the marketing department, most notably Samsung.
