are a mobile a64 and turion the same?

I was looking at processors, my laptop has a turion ML-34 in it, i have found an a64 mobile 3700+ cheaper than the ML-37, whats the difference between the two and will either work in a latptop (specifically an acer 5043).

this will be an upgrade for me later on, my first priority is a faster rpm hard drive, but checking out processors now.

on the same note, will the turion work in a desktop board which a mobile a64 would work in?

the mobile has higher power consumption iirc.
and yes there are some boards that will support turion, iam currently runnin a ml30 on a DFI 250gb and except for some problems whenever i reinstall my os its doin very good. dunno about the support of mobiles though.

Turion 64s have lower power consumption, but they are still essentially a retooled dekstop Athlon 64. More here.

I would guess you could probably drop a Turion 64 (not a Turion 64 X2, different socket) into a board that can handle recent Athlon 64 Mobiles, and be OK. But if it were my money, I'd look for someone that had already tried it and succeded. Any board that can handle the Oakville and Newark Mobiles, I would expect to probably work. But no guarantees from me.
