Are 9500 (L-Shape memory) hit and miss for unlocking to 9700?

Hi,

Ive found somewhere that sells the Radeon 9500 specifying L-Shape memory configuration. However is the unlocking of the 4 pipelines a hit and miss process? Is it possible to get a card not capable of running stable in this config?

(Oh well its gotta be better than my Ti4200 that cant AF for ****!)

Thanks txxxx

Edit : Its not a Pro on sale.

I think around 1/2 the L shaped 9500 cannot undergo the conversion to 9700, giving the checkerboard effect. The rest either

1) Work fine
2) Have barely noticable checkerboard
3) Only have checkerboard with certain applications.

Mine did, and I returned it for a 9600P.

They will all run with the mod stably but most will have artifacts. Just do this if you want one:

But 3. The odds of you getting a good one are really good if you buy 3. Then just sell the other 2 on ebay.

Sorry, yes it is a 9500 128mb card. Not Pro.

I ordered one from allstarshop.com..

failed the mod 🙁

i'm stuck with this card now, i didn't feel like returning it (extra 15$ + shipping fees)

i should of gotten a 9600 pro or something.
