are 8-Pin EPS 12V extension cables safe to use?

mine is a little to short to route behind my motherboard tray forcing me to route it over top of the video card. are extension cables safe to use or do they cause instability problems?

I'm using them in all three of my rigs right now and none of mine have any problems. Probably the only issues might crop up with a bad harness or something.

that company is a big rip off on their shipping and handling. $7.15 to ship that cable. give me a break.

I know....high prices and horrible shipping rates. Believe me, I did the same thing you're doing right now; trying to find that 8-pin EPS extender at an online seller that has a reasonable price and shipping cost.

But like you're finding, while a lot of places list it, finding it in stock is the problem.

And that's how Peformance PC's and FrozenCPU stay in business. If you need something weird, strange, or offbeat for a computer, they're high but almost always have what you need in stock.

At least they put a tad of lube on it before driving the gouging home by sleeving the extension for you....and it's not done badly, either.

When I upgraded my cases recently, these extensions were provided with the case as part of the package. I would imagine it will be a challenge to find an outfit that will give you reasonable shipping rates.

If you have a Micro Center or Frys close by, they normally carry those. I also have an extra I can sell you for $7 shipped, pretty much free.

Heh, typical problem of case manufacturers (due to popular demand?) putting the power supply on the wrong side of the motherboard.

You can get them on Ebay for $8 shipped. Too bad DealExtreme.com doesn't have them because it would then be really cheap (though take 2-4 weeks to receive). There's also various places on the web selling them for around $2 each, but I'm scared to see what shipping would be, or Reseller Ratings, for that matter. :hmm:

I got mine from svc, and it has been working great since I bought it three months ago. If you live in the bay area, local pickup is available for free ship.
