Are 8 Gram poker chips good?

I got a poker set for Xmas. It's damaged inside though, so i'll have to return it. It includes 500 8 Gram poker chips, is that considered high quality? I'm just wondering if i should exchange it for the same set or go get something else. I don't really mind if they're not super high quality anyways really, i'm just curious i guess. I probably can't even find anyone to play poker with me 😛

No, 8 gram chips are generally low quality chips (though there can be exceptions). The higher quality chips are 11 or 13 grams.

Heavier chips are nice, but you can spend $0.10/chip or more on the fancy ones. If you're just doing some recreational poker games, it really doesn't matter.
