Are 7970 and GTX 680 fairly euqal cards for gaming?

I've said for a long time that tech sites are little more than extensions of the marketing dept.
for the equipment they review. I usually catch a bunch of crap from other forum members when I say it too.

Why do you think youve never seen a 7850 crossfire review? That absoluty destroys these high margin $500 cards for same price is why. Or alternatively way OCed Bloomfields in new processor reviews? Can't make money if ppl hold on to 4 years old tech.

There are a few exceptions. Anandtech, [H] are the obvious speak-their-minds websites. There are a few others that are independent or seem that way, like Hardwarecanucks and bit-tech.

I'm afraid that I don't share your views about all of those sites. (I'm not going to single any out and start that flamefest. ;)) I think that typically instead of trying to stress the equipment and find the weaknesses/faults, they try and show it in it's best light.
