Alright, I'm really pissed off right now since I have a $180 paperweight in my motherboard, and a processor that still works (amazingly) but has a chunk of the blue stuff gone.
I could not get the clip on the ArctiCooler to fasten to the socket with the processor in place. Without the processor, the thing snaps on fine. But when I added the processor, the damn thing won't go on right. I tried to use a little force (bad idea), as I heard this terrible crack and lifted the cooler up to see a nick in the blue piece of the processor. Also, as I tried to put the clip on (which is metal, by the way), it scrapped away about three traces on the board that are located directly underneath the little notch on the socket. I'm kinda annoyed at ASUS for putting traces in this area, but that's a different story.
So, to anyone else who's thinking of getting an ArctiCooler for his/her CUSL2 platform, beware. I hope that you guys don't make as big (read: EXPENSIVE) mistake as I did.
I'm really wondering what to do with this processor right now. It's a 700 that is good to at least 1GHz, and somehow it still works (I tested on a different system). The nick is pretty deep and it scares me a little; I hope that it doesn't get larger.
