ArctiClean 1 spilled over GPU die onto the green part...

Hi guys, I have an old ATI Radeon 9600XT and the cooler was getting really noisy and annoying so I finally bought a zalman VF700 cooler. After unmounting the noisy stock HSF, I put a drop of ArctiClean 1 on the GPU die to remove the previous thermal compound residue. Somehow, part of the drop spilled over the GPU die and onto the green part of the chip. (See this picture here.) I wiped it up with a q-tip and right now i just applied another drop of ArctiClean 1 to the die again because the thermal compound is still stuck there. Is my radeon damaged because the ArctiClean spilled over? Thanks.

I severly doubt the artic clean stuff is conductive, and since you weren't running the card when it happend, if you clean up the area your card should be fine. Unless that stuff is like hardcore acid and will burn a hole through your card ;)

The only way to fry your card like that is if the stuff is conductive and you power it up causing a short.

The whole point of the ArctiClean stuff is that it leaves nor residue whatsoever, it dissipates completely. And sicne theres no residue there's nothing that could damage your system.

While we're talking about ArctiClean, what exactly is it? Does ArctiClean = acetone?

I'm not sure, but it might, since it's supposed to be very good at cleaning off thermal paste. Number 2 is just 95% or so isopropyl alcohol.

This has to do with the terminology you have used.

The chip is the black square in the middle of your picture.
You did not put anything on the die! The die is inside the chip and you cannot see it.
The green part in your picture is the printed circuit board (PCB). It is not a part of the chip. The chip is soldered to it.
