Has anyone ever heard of this possibility? When I first put my comp together in Dec 2005 my idle temps were in the 27C range with load at 35C.

Lately I have been noticing my processor running significantly hotter. Any ideas? Maybe need to reseat the Typhoon?

You have air sprayed it, have you gotten rid of all the dust though? Open it up, take a look in the heatsink.

In some cases you cannot remove all the dust with a air spray, and if it gets under the heatsink (rare) it can cause problems

I'll give that a shot.

I use a dual-stage air compressor @ 125 PSI -- does a damn fine job! :D

You wouldn't believe how much dust a HSF and PSU will collect -- and it doesn't take long!

Personally, I doubt canned air will do jack, if that's what ppl are using... ;)

I haven't touched the heatsink in my dads PC for 2 years, and it hasn't changed it's cooling properties - at least nothing I have noticed. It's either not gained much dust, or it hasn't really affected it as much as I'd think. I never bother to check as there is no reason to - I always keep an eye on temperatures though, so I'd know if things needed cleaning.

Hmmm...dust hasn't really been too much of a problem for me though...I open up the case about once ever month or two to check inside, but not that much dust has accumulated on the heatsink and other parts in the 10 months since I built this system.

I guess the amount of dust that gets into one's computer really depends on how clean and dust free that person's house (and perhaps heating/cooling system) is.

Also if you move you PC around a lot, you sometimes have to remount the heatsink. Take it off, clean it, reapply, and remount.

Thanks everyone! I may just do this, I haven't moved it around much at all, but that Typhoon is heavy and does not techincally fit the DFI boards.

Now if one of you guys can come over and show me how to lay all the tile I bought, I'll be alllll set :)
