Arctic Silver/Video Processor Question

What should I use to clean the old thermal paste off my video card processor prior to using Arctic Silver epoxy to attach a better cooling fan? On the Arctic Silver web site it says to use "automotive degreaser"? What the h*ll does this mean? Surely someone here can recommend a product. 😕
 
I used Acetone. (The stuff women use to clean nail polish off) It worked great. I've also heard that rubbing alchohol works.
