Well I took my computer apart today to cut some holes to put in quieter fans, put a 92mm Panaflow in the front and replaced my p/s fan with an 80mm Panaflow M1. While I had the motherboard out I decieded to pop of the pretty orange heatsink on the Pro2-A's northbridge chipset and put some Arctic Silver under there to see if it would help. Well I took the heatsink off and only about 1 quater of the surface had thermal grease the rest was bare, so I cleaned it off and used the Arctic Silver "for small surfaces"(its all I had), and slaped it back together.
Well before doing this 101 and 102 FSB would boot into windows but not 100%stabile 103 would sometimes boot into windows and 105 never, even with lowering the multiplyer to 9.x I would still get the same results. Well after the Arctic Silver its running at 106fsb @ 9.x and so far 100% stabile, also had it running at 107fsb without problems but figure I'll test for stability at 106 first then if all is well try higher. I did try 110fsb and it posts but fails to load windows.
My memory scores in Sandra 2001 went from 442/542 at 9.5x100fsb to 470/570 at 9.0x106fsb. The cpu and Multi Media tests are about the same, but 3DMARK2000 and Quake 3 benchmarks went up a little. Next I'll see if I can back off the v-core a little to keep it cooler, we shal see!
