arctic silver question

I just bought two celeron II 633's that are currently attached to an asus slotket with a thermaltake golden orb as a heaksink. I applied arctic silver between them before I even tested the processors to make sure they work. Neither one works, and I believe it is due to an incompatiable slotket. I'm getting two new ones today, do you think it would be okay to remove the heatsink and processor and put them on the new slotkets without removing and redoing the arctic silver?
