I've had a tube of Arctic Silver for a while now; I got it back when i made my 550 jump to 733. Anyway, I just bought a 2.5 gig Barton and I want to make it dance at 400Mhz FSB. I was wondering if you think the AS1 is ok or should I go and buy a new tube of AS3. I'm not concerned about the freshness just the difference in quality between the two. Myself I don't think there would be a huge difference as there isn't a big difference on their specs. FYI I'll be running a Thermalright SK7 with a ThermalTake Smart Case Fan II. (80mm)

2.5 gig barton? you mean 2500+? anyway, ASI should be fine but you can get AS3 for 4.99 with free shipping @ svc

AS1 was replaced due to a reported tendency to pump out from between the CPU and the CPU. With the smaller interface of today's CPUs, I'd feel more comfortable with AS3.

Not to hijack your thread, but are there any issues with AS2? I've been using it for about 2 years now without any "problems" but I'm not sure if I should expect more if I went with the newer stuff.

People claim ACII dries up leaving a 'foil' layer between the CPU and the HS. I actually experienced this a few years back when removing my HS, there was a shiny film stuck to the CPU (easily wiped off). Now, I don't know if this 'foil' is a bad thing, just that it was there. I've moved to AC3 now (because I had run out of ACII) and after removing the HS after ~6mos., the thermal goop still almost seems wet.
