Arctic Silver 5 review

So would they still continue to produce Ceramique? Which market was Ceramique targeted at in the first place? I thought that Ceramique was meant as a replacement for the AS series 😕

"The explanation is as amusing as it is unique: In Japan, which is a huge market for Arctic Silver, the number 4 is associated with death."

"One can observe the same thing in floor-numbering in the US, where floor 13 is nowhere to be found."

Hmm, so floor 14 is actually 13? Better get rid of floor 14 too.

Someone where my dad works had a computer that was simply designated as "666" in the order of their PC numbering. The user demanded that his number be changed immediately.
24oz Mountain Dew bottles have a number on the inside of the cap - I got one that had 666 on it. Should have kept it. For luck. 😀

It's the way they pronounce #4 (not 14, 24, x4) in chinese/japanese. It sounds similar to "die". Also Chinese ppl like #8 bcuz it sounds like "growing or prosperity". That's why you find Chinese ppl have their business phone # with as many 8 as possible (and avoid 4) hehe... It was interesting for me to find out 🙂

Marvie,

Ceramique was always intended as a lower cost alternative to the Arctic Silver line for people who did not want a metal-based compound.

I've found Ceramique is slightly better than AS3, and when I tested this new AS5 (before it was called AS5), I found it to be correspondingly better than Ceramique. And any of them are consistently better than generic white paste.

Just ordered a tube of AS5 from BestByte. Came to $5.99 shipped.. can't beat that. Almost out of my AS2 tube so it was time to upgrade.

Wow, even cheaper than SVC. For now.

Woah. Just saw this at Bestbyte.

In which case, how does Intel market the Pentium 4 in Japan? Peace.

Yes, Arctic Silver 5 is definitely better than Ceramique.

(It wouldn't make much sense otherwise.) 😉

Sure it does from a marketing perspective. 😉
