I got a question concerning how long should a stick of arctic silver 5 effectiveness last? The stick that I am using right now it a little over 2 years old and when it use it on my core 2 duo E6400, it doesn't seems to eb working to well. I am going to replace my stock heatsink soon with arctic freezer 7 pro, so I am wondering should I keep my old stick or just get a new one to cool my oced core 2 duo better?

the freezer 7 pro comes with mx-1 preapplied so just use that. It is at least as good as the AS5.

Well, it is mroe like the mx-1 is no longer on it. I used to use the AF7P, but one of the pin broke off so I had to bug arctic for a new pic and the new one arrive a few days ago

oh

You could try your current AS5 (after all, the stock cooler is not the best sink to test paste with ;) ) then if it still doesn't seem right you could get a tube of MX-2 - use first class mail. MX-2 is better than AS5.

Since AF7P is a PITA to put in, broke one the the pin during the last install since then I was using stock. So the Mx-2 stuff is even better than AS5? Is there a special method to apply mx-2 onto core 2 duo processor just like AS5 in a straight line or just put the paste all over the processor?
