The search function isn't working, so I decided to make a new thread.

I've heard many times that it's a bad idea to use Arctic Silver 5 on video ram, and can lead to lower clocks and deam ram, but WHY does it do this? I'm looking for an in-depth technical explanation.

edit: hit enter too early

i don't have an indepth answer, but i heard that it's conductive...that's why it's dangerous to use on the ram

something along the line

but i personally used artic silver 5 on my video ram before without having any problem

Arctic Ceramique is less conductive and "stickier" than AS5 so it would work better for video RAM chips IMHO. It's my paste of choice so I use it for all my TIM needs.

ceramique is better. AS% is capacative so you shouldnt use it on any place it might touch leads since it can damage the circuits.
