Arctic Silver 3 Question - come inside

While transplanting a few of the components that I'm not upgrading into their new surroundings I noticed that my Ti4200 fan has seized. It's not that old, so I'm a little mad about it, but I just shrugged it off and ordered a Thermaltake G4 copper cooler kit. I also ordered some AS3 for my CPU and figure I'll use some of it on the GFX heatsink, too. I'd also like to use the AS3 for the RAMsinks, as well. I know Arctic Silver makes an adhesive, but I was wondering if I could add a drop or two of superglue to the AS3 and use it to attach the sinks or would that not be a good idea? Would the small amount of superglue interfere with the heat transfer properties of the AS3? What do you all think?

I think you would need a large amount of superglue to make anything hold well. This would probably destroy the heat transfer properties of the artic silver. I may be wrong however. Also, how flammable is superglue, does it break down under heat, and will it release toxic fumes?

One thing to note: AS3 is not conductive (meaning it won't carrry a DC current), but it is capacitive (meaning it will carry signals, effectively shorting two points). Lots of people have had problems with AS2 thermal adhesive and video cards. It is very easy to get it on the pins of the ram. I say just buy some AS Alumina thermal adhesive. Be patient so your not posting "What happened to my video card?"

I believe that Arctic Alumina Adhesive is a 100% solution and wont allow removal. However, I have read that a 50-50 mix or close to that of Arctic Alumina and AS3 should provide enough stick to stay on and also be removable. I think this info may have been on the Arctic Silver website. Id check but Im supposed to be doing homework atm :S

You just have to mix the AS3 with SuperGlue fast enough so you can work with it. My "mix" dried as soon as I touched my P166.
