So...what is the difference between AS and ASII? Which is better?
Also, why would you want to use the adhesive to bond the CPU to the fan? It seems like such a permanent decision, unless there is a good reason.

Please advise?

I wouldn't use adhesive.

Artic Silver II uses smaller Silver "discs", and is easier to apply. Little bit better performance to boot, as well.

Where can I find the statistics comparing Artic Silver I and Artic Silver II? I'd like to know how much better it is. Also where to get it for a good price.

about $8-9, pretty much anywhere online.

As far as the specs, i don't believe they have them up yet. I get about 1C lower on average, but dependant on application method and thickness, i can get up to 2C lower.

well, its just all about application... After e-mailing nevin about it, he was telling me that their own testing various application methods and thicknesses, they got about a 3C performance "range".

I gte about the same "range" depending on wher I glop it on and let the heatsink do the work, or whether I use a ziploc bag to spread it.

I heard not to use your fingure. Is it really taht bad if you spread it with you fingure? That's what I used, should I reaply it with a ziploc bag?

Well, finger application gets "oils" into the mix, and helsp to dry out artic silver(it otherwise doesn't dry out)...

You could retry applying it wtih finger in a ziploc bag, but I'm not sure if you'll see a temp difference.

so what is the best way to apply cooling grease?
How thick should it be?
Is there a web page or site out there that discusses this?
