Arctic freezer 64 or Si-120?

Hi! I have the arctic freezer 64 pro on an overclocked opteron 165. At full load it records about 49-50 degrees and I'd like to reduce it as much as possibile. It seems that the best heatsink is the si-120, do you think I can lower the temperature of 2-3 degree with it? I have a custom lateral window with a 12x12 cm fan directly on the heatsink, if i'll take the si-120 the distance between this fan and the heatsink is about 5-6cm so do you think I need to put another 12x12 fan on the si-120 or the lateral fan is sufficient (or better due to fresh air directly on heatsink)? Thanks!

I have a personal preference to the xp-120 just because of the basic design, I have a couple of them, but they cool essentially the same. You would not need another fan on the hsf for it to cool very well in that setup but. with how close they would be, it could actually create turbulance and decrease cooling if you had two fans but to be 100% honest, there is only one way to find out for 100% sure, try it.

If you place a duct between the side fan and the heatsink, you might be able to get away without a fan directly atop the heatsink. However, the airflow won't be as high as if you were to place a fan on the heatsink.

If you're not looking to overclock it more, I would just leave the F64P on. 50 degrees is safe.

Both will give you good performance...my preference is the XP 120 but there are alot of people using the Arctic freezer 64 as well.

If your OC is stable on the Freezer64 Pro, then I don't think there's a need for a Si-120 or XP-120 unless you want to push it even higher.

Get a spare 120mm fan and cut out the internal fan part so that you have just the frame. Mount the frame on the SI-120 and leave the side panel fan where it is. That should give you pretty direct airflow.

Thanks to all of you for nice ideas and comments. Yes, my idea is to push a little further in overclock but I want to evaluate how much is the gain in temperatures with xp120 or si120. Looking at the thermalright site, for the si-120 is required at least a 48CFM fan, my side 12 one is about 74cfm so even at 5-6cm it should provide enough airflow. About si-120 vs xp-120: someone of you said they are the same but online review gives to si-120 about 2-3 degree less, what do you think? Why you prefer xp-120 over si-120? Thanks again!
