Arctic Cooling vs Arctic Silver

I've been wondering.

Are the makers of Arctic Silver the same people who make MX-1, the Freezer 7 Pro, and other various items? The names are so similar, I figured they were the same company, but the websites seem different. For example, the guide for the MX-1 compound compares it against AS2 and AS3... not AS5. Seems odd for a company that would obviously know they have a more up-to-date product to compare.

They are different companies.

MX-1 is the screaming dee-lite of TIM fanboies but reality says, any of the top 6 are within 2C of eachother.

CoolerMaster Premium
ThermalRight OEM TIM
Zalman OEM TIM
Ceramique
Shin Etsu, if you can find it

AVOID that liquid metal stuff

Wayyyy too much time is spent debating TIM. Proper flat surfaces and proper application w/o air pockets is what is important.
If the surfaces are not flat and you can't lap, for whatever reason(warrenty), use AMD approved Shin Etsu pads from http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/
