Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 5 Video Card Cooling Kit and SLi

I want to get 2 Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 5 Video Card Cooling Kit for my SLi setup but I am worried that it will block the SLi bridge connections on each GeForce 6600 GT PCI-E. Does anyone have an experience with this or any other good video cooler? I am still using stock cooling and my PC frequently crashes on me because the video cards are overheating.

ooh frequently crashing? definitely go pick up some nv silencers, but you need nv 4, not nv 5.

the silencers are indeed HUGE but are only designed to take up one PCI slot. so long as your SLI setup leaves a bit more space than 3 PCI slots, you should be OK.

On Artic's site it says you need the NV Silencer 6 for the 6600 GT PCI-E models. I also doubled checked on Xoxide.com and the image they have of the packaging also states the above.

But i'm glad to hear that it should fit and I will be ordering tomorrow 🙂 I'm also thinking of my Antec 480 Watt Trueblue power supply is enough for my PC as well.

I have the following

AMD X2 4400+
Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe
1 GB Corsair XMS DDR PC3200
2 Leadtek GeForce 6600 GT PCI-E
1 Seagate SATA 120gb HD
1 WD IDE 120gb HD
1 Maxtor IDE 120gb HD
Pioneer DVD-ROM
Liteon CDRW
BenQ DVDRW
SB Audigy 2 ZS
Netgear WG311 Wireless

only running stock AMD heatsink/fan, 120mm case fan, 2 80mm case fans.

What do you guys think? Should I get a newer power supply as well and better CPU cooling? And if so can you recommend anything? As for CPU cooling i'm thinking about getting the Thermalright XP-120 with a Panaflo fan and for power supplies I want to get the SilverStone Zeus ST65ZF 650W Power Supply nVIDIA SLI Certified

I have the 4400+ with a TR120 and a Panaflo Ultra Speed 120mm... thing can cool that proc like no other... I am idling at 32 C with the fan turned all the way DOWN. With it up, it gets loud, but also cools off about 2 or 3 degrees... I got it below 30 C a few times 😉

If I were you I wouldn't spend a extra $60 for two NV Silencer.
I would rather use those extra cash and sell the 6600s for a 6800GT or even a Ultra.

is it the new one with dual 12V rails or the older one, like mine, with only a single +12v rail with 22A? if single rail, it probably will not be enough esp. with dual gpu's. 🙁
