Well, if you're using an Abit KN8 like me, you can move the memory (if you have only 2 sticks) to slots 3 and 4. That way you'll still have dual channel but still have space for the Freezer. Otherwise, you'll be better off facing the bottom of the PSU (if it has a fan). If not, face the rear end of the cooler to the front of the case and make the rear exhaust an intake fan.

I'm using a Asus K8 SE Deluxe, I don't think dual-channel is a concern for me

Zim,

The blue RAM slot will be slightly blocked. But once you lift the fan, slide the RAM, you should be fine. The bottom of the fan does not have a guard. You can go dual channel and plug your RAM into the yellow slots without any interferrence. I hope that helps.

Look at my AN8 SLI It is even more crowded.

Mine is pretty crowded as well. I just have my Corsair mem in the light blue slots. I need to get a fan in the front of my case (5.25" bays) to cool the memory.

That's good to know, thanks Sincity

BTW, I'm no where up to date on MB's, but is that AN8 board the only one available w/ a heat pipe from the NB chipset to the rear fan area?

Yes..Asus has one also. I think Abit and Asus are the only ones right now with the heatpipe on the NB. The Asus one has the SLI slots further apart than the other manufacturers. This way, you can fit a larger GPU cooler. Though, Arctic Cooling's Accelero, due out in Feb will work on the narrower SLI slots (1 slot between the SLI slots). I believe Zalman's upcoming GPU cooler will also fit on boards with narrow SLI slots.

I'm having to return the NV Silencer because it will not fit into my SLI mobo configuration. I sure will miss the exhaust feature of the cooler. It is too bad that mobo makers do not have the insight to build the SLI slots further apart like ASUS to fit larger GPU coolers. I also emailed Zalman, and they also told me that 2 VF700s will not fit SLI configs where there is only 1 slot in between the SLI slots.

So...I will either get the new Arctic Cooling Accelero or new upcoming Zalman low profile GPU cooler. More than likely I will get the Arctic Cooling since I could plug the fan into the video card instead of plugging it into the PSU. The Accelero is even quieter than the NV Silencer. Not that it matters since the NV Silencer is virtually silent.

That's unfortunate to hear. My Silencer finally got shipped today. 4 freaking days of processing and Directron FINALLY gets it out.

Rallymaster:

4 Days??? WTF! That is why I buy from Newegg..even if a item is a few bucks more. In Vegas, we are only about 250 miles away from the Newegg warehouse. If I order before 3 pm, my UPS guy will have it by 10 am the following morning. Kinda like having the store in town!

Yeah...I was bummed that I could not fit two NV Silencers. Would have prefeered them over the Accelero.

Yes, WTF indeed. It could be the credit card (I've had experience with the company being a pita) or it could be Directron being a slow mofo. But either way, I'll be getting a Silencer soon! *rejoices and dances

Can somone please let me know if the AC 64 freezer 64 is the same as this 64 freezer pro is? My local shop here says it is (maybe since it's what they have in stock). THey also cary two versions of the Arctic Cooling Silencer 64 Ultra (ACS64UTCL and another). Are those as good as the AC 64 Freezer 64 pro? Just would love to know before i get it from here or if I should order it online I cannot find the actual pro if there is a difference indeed.

Yes, there is a difference between the non-Pro and the Pro. The non-Pro doesn't perform as well and is incapable of being mounted in a variety of fashions. I have also read it is louder. If the store is indeed selling the Pro, get it. Otherwise, order it from Zipzoomfly.

Silencer 64 Ultras are no longer the rave. Yes they may be quiet but will never cool as well as a Freezer 64 Pro.
