My 3200+ Stock cooler idles at 30c and on load 45c. I'm overclocked to 2.5. Would it be worth it to buy this just for noise reduction? The stock cooler for my venice is not all that loud anyway. I think I just have good airflow as is in my Sonata:)

Thanks for the deal OP! I just ordered one, $20.xx shipped to PA. Newegg now wants $29.xx plus shipping.
This is a good deal.

I've been using it for months. One of the best coolers in its price category (beats many of the more expensive coolers). Very quiet.

It comes with some TIM already on the heatsink, I've read that it actually works better with this default material than Arctic Silver.

It comes ready to go. They have some thermal compound already to use on the heatsink itself.

Most of use AS5 though.

Whoops... hit reply too late.

I ordered a dozen AC Alpines and fans 2 nights ago, and already got an E-mail with tracking number. Great price! My experience with AC Freezer 64 Pro has been great--quiet and cool, much better than my Thermaltake Venus 12 that had higher temps, despite the copper heatsink and a tornado-like fan.

In my opinion, I wouldnt see any reason to buy any other HSF. I have it on my 939 setup and is pretty quiet and cools just as good as the top dogs.

I just received mine. This thing is HUGE and barely fits into my Antec 1030SX.
At any rate, it's not hard to install, and the performance is BRILLIANT. On my 754 3200+, I can set the fan to 60% through the BIOS, and even at 5% overclock (2.1 instead of 2.0), the max temp under Prime95 stress is 52C.
The stock 754 cooler was 54C on idle and 64C under stress, and it was much louder than this Freezer 64.

Temps are much lower when I run the fan at 100%, but of course it's louder as well. I prefer quiet.

If you have a Socket 754 and a stock heatsink, you owe yourself this cooler, it's outstanding. The heatpiped AMD 939 stock coolers are already pretty nice, so I think the benefit there may just be that this one is quieter.

Use the TIM it really is good stuff. One of the reviews that is listed on AC's web site tested the TIM against common brands and it won. No reason to use AS here.

Mine came in today, and it seems to be working well!!

The TIM looks like Shin Etsu, so I used it as is.

One word of warning- it covers the power connector on a VNF3-250.

So I will have to remove the Heatsink to swap out the power supply.

I've had mine on for a week, using AS5 instead of the TIM and my temps are exactly the same as the AMD stock heatpipe. No improvement at all. Needless to say, I'm disappointed in this HSF. With the side panels on or off, my temps are 36C idle...53C full load with 2 instances of SP2004 (one on each core) and this at stock speeds (4200+ CPU).

soundforbjt,
I suspected as much. The AMD heatpipe HSF is already pretty nice.
But, is the Freezer 64 not quieter than the AMD?

Soundforbjt, the 4 heatpipe HSF is already a really nice cooler, I remember reading some comparison that didn't show much variance between that cooler and the Freezer. Although it did show that load temps were lower with the Freezer.

I did not expect this thing to be this HUGE. At first I didnt think it would fit on my mATX board but I then realized that I was installing the wrong way. =P My X2 3800 is about 32c, never tried it with the stock HSF so I dont know if there was an improvement or not.

I will def. not hesitate to order from provantage again, these guys ship fast as heck.
