As you can see, some reviews on new egg claim that this product sucks and killed their card. Does this happen very common? I was going to get this, but i'm not to sure now. Would this modd keep my card from cooled? Would i end up like some unlucky users that had their card broken? Any tips on installing it?

BTW, i got Radeon 9800 AIW. I am not sure who was it made by, it was 2nd handed.

i love this card, i use this cooler on my 9800 pro and all my friends use this on their card. I actually prefer this over the Ati Silencer 1 since its compatible with AIW cards as well. I got my pro OC'ed to 420 core. It's easy to install, just tighten both screws evenly. I'm pretty sure i can OC it more if i remount it again.

I have two of these units, one cooling a 9600 Pro and another on a 9800 Pro. There's nothing special about installing it, just torque each of the two mounting points down (do not do one side completely. Tighten one, then the other ... alternate tightening each one just a bit) until the rubber spacer is bulged out about halfway. My guess is the Newegg commenters cranked away on one side until the core was pinched. Mine run very well (426 core on the 9800 and still climbing when I canceled the test) so just follow the mounting advice and enjoy.

If your card is functioning well currently, then you don't need anything additional to it.

Graphical Tearing. Application lock up's or freezing due to excessive thermal build up on the GPU or the card itself. Noise where the fan is constantly whining @ high RPM when the system is even idle.

Oh no! then i should get it. Usually when i create a game in WC3, it freezes for like 1-5 seconds. So, do you think i should get it? Also, since it takes up another PCI slot, would it force me to cut the metal or anything?

No. That is just lag due to slow CPU/not enough mem/slow hard drive. It has nothing to do with the temps of the card. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. In this situation, if it isn't causing you trouble, don't stir it up.

I've used the VGA Silencer rev3 on:
Radeon 9500
Radeon 9700 Pro
Radeon 9800 Pro

Excellent cooler in my opinion.

I know this is compatible with AIW, but no one that actually has an AIW gave me suggestions/opinion.
