Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer 1 vs. Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer Rev3

i have the rev3. Yes the card uses a 3pin connector and the silencer uses a 2pin. I spliced them and it has been working great 😉 Case temps went down, its very quiet and i could overclock more.

They recently did a comparison. Basically, they both cool about the same, and the Rev3 is quieter because it has a "Hi/Lo" switch and other reasons as well. Of course they recommend placing a zalman fanmate onto the ATI Silencer to match it more closely to the sound level of the Rev3

I have a silencer 1 on a 9700 pro and a rev3 on another 9700 pro. 🙂

the silencer 1 did have a problem fitting over a capacitor but i just cut a bit off and it works fine.
