Arctic Cool Freezer Pro 7 Help

Today I got the Freezer Pro 7. It took a while to install because the way the directions show you to mount it doesn't mount on my ASUS P5N-E SLI because of the northbridge so I had to turn it on notch clockwise so the fan is pointing towards the northbridge. After getting it setup correctly I turned on my computer but i'm not seeing the decrease in temps like I thought I would. With the stock intel HSF my system was idling at 47c and at load around 53c. With the Freezer pro 7 i'm idling around 41c, 42c and at load around 48c. Nothing alarming but I was hoping to see the CPU in the 30c's like other people. I used the thermal grease that came on the heatsink which could be part of my problem. I also smeared it a litte bit when I had to pick it up off the CPU to turn it. Just wondering if anyone has some advice to what i'm doing wrong.

When I put my freezer 7 on I noticed about 5 degree change in temps also. If I'm not mistaken that's usually how much they decrease by. Not sure though.
Is your cpu overclocked? I know I was also getting 47C on idle on my E2200 using the stock fans and other people were getting temps in the 30's using stock fan with the same cpu. I've reseated the cpu many times and temps always stay the same.

Thanks, i'm not doing any overclocking either. When I was reading reviews I saw people getting 10-11c degree change after installing the cooler. I was thinking of getting some arctic silver but I guess I won't bother. THanks again.

Do you have any type of thermal management set in the bios ?
Some bios control the fan speed, so that as heat rises the fan speeds up.
If so, turn it off or set the fan speed to always high and see if that helps.
For me, I overclocked a E4500 to 3.3Ghz and it idles at 28C.

Did you touch the CPU? Did you clean all the old paste off? Was there a ton of paste on the Freezer? Arctic cooling MX-2 or MX-1 is pretty good, but...

They put on too much paste sometimes, I noticed my temps dropping slowly over the couple weeks after install. Expect up to 5 more degrees to come off.

I cleaned the old thermal paste off the CPU with 50% Isoproply Alcohol, I don't know what would considered a ton of thermal paste on the bottom of the new heatsink but there was a layer of it.
