Arctic Alumina or Arctic Silver 5?

I just got a heatsink for my 3500+ and with it came a little tube of Arctic Alumina should I use that or Silver 5? Which is better or does it really matter? Quick replies would be helpful since I am going to put it together tonight

Arctic Silver 5 is better, but not by a miraculous margin.

All pastes should really be replaced once in a while. You should be able to go a couple years at least.

while there is talk on the as5 and aa, i was wondering where does the ceramique come in between these thermal compounds? is the ceragmique any better or worse than those 2? any differences?

you shouldnt replace some that harden. they get better with time.

Ceramiqué is marketted to be in the middle - around the AS2 level I believe. I could be wrong though. In any case, I just use Ceramiqué because it is mad mad easy to clean up.

ohh. hmmm so if i were overclocking my 3500+ with either a zalman or venus 12, which thermal should i use??

i've got both and didn't really notice a temp drop when i switched to as5 with my 3.0 prescott. that said, with my a64 i'm using as5 because well, it's better hyped.

Ceramiqué gets my vote also because it is very easy to clean and performs better than alumina and about the same as AS5 for me.

I agree too. Also AS5 is doesn't wear off with time nor take serious force to remove like other thermal paste.
