Architecture Poster Project ***Need Ideas!***

I have an assignment in my architecture class invloving making a poster/abstract paper about buildings/architecture between 1000AD to 1850AD. We don't have anything specific to write about; my professor left it pretty open to do whatever. It can be about an engineering feat, a comparison, or whatever else we can think of.

I want to do something interesting. However, since the topic is up in the air, I have no idea where to start... Can anyone help me brainstorm any ideas?

Castles... yeah they can be interesting, but what specfically should be written about them?
