AR speaker review and advice

I'm thinking of buying some speakers , namely the arxp10bk fronts, arxp3bk center, arxp16bk surrounds and a arvpxs12bk sub... if anyone has any advice or reviews on these speakers it would be greatly appreciated.Any reviews you might have found or personal experience would also be welcome

Could you link to the speakers you're talking about?

What does AR stand for?

I don't recognize the names. If you give us a budget, we should be able to offer some good bang-for-the-buck alternatives if you can't find more info on the ones you're considering now.

thats the problem. i haven't been able to find much on the net thats why i posted here. AR stands for Acoustic Research now called Audiovox apparently...Just hoping someone would know something bout them.

Yeah, I turned up a little on Acoustic Research / Audiovox looking around, but I didn't see the particular models you're talking about?

There are some Acoustic Research and Audiovox reviews up on http://www.audioreview.com/ but I didn't see those models their either.

These might be good speakers, but I'd be a bit worried that there doesn't seem to be any info about them at all to be found.

Acoustic Research used to make great speakers. I'm not sure what happened to them, but they were bought out by Audiovox several years ago. Now they mainly sell cables and other accessories. Here's their speaker page. I don't see the models you mentioned in their current or past lineup. Where are you purchasing these speakers? What website or brick and mortar (B&M) store?

I have some old school AR SRT170's that sound quite nice. I really need to upgrade to a 5.1 system, though.

I had some AR10s back in the 80s. Great, great speakers. 3" dome midrange FTW!
