Aquamark score seems low

I just got aquamark and ran it for the heck of it on comp I just built, but the scores I got seemed a bit low when compared to others. I'm not ocing or anything, so I suppose that could be it. My system basically is:

amd 3500+
1 gig corsair value ram
evga 6800 gt (one of them)
msi k8n sli mobo
Also, I am using a dell 2005 lcd screen, which has native res of 1680 by 1050 (i think). But I ran the normal settings test stretched to fit my screen, possible this is the problem?

Cpu score was 10078 which I think stacks up pretty good. Gpu was 7044 which is almost dead last for my setup. Overall was 52k, also near dead last. Drivers are updated, as for graphics options I just set them to the aquamark 3d preset in the nvidia options since I didn't know what to change. Any advice/comments would be appreciated, I am worried I could be getting more out of this thing and need to change some settings somewhere. Don't want to get into ocing quite yet though.

Ok, yeah that ups it to 63k, 9177 for gpu, so that's good enough for me for the moment. Thanks for the help!

running "best performance" gives that much of a boost? damn.

Oh, so all of you are moving the slider to best performance (= worse quality) for benchmarks? Because I got 7200 with my OC' 9800p on default settings, maybe I'll get 9000 also by lowering the quality :p

IMO, benchmarks are only valid at the default driver settings. Lowering IQ for a higher score is only good for bragging, I wouldn't play a game at low IQ settings, you're only fooling yourself into thinking your card is better than it really is.

i agree, i use it to check what different tweaks do when oc'ing so it's just a mark to mark type thing so it's not like i change it to "best performance" to bench.

i'm just surprised it can make such a difference.

Yeah, having done this it seems like it would be easier if aquamark just forced certain iq on you and made everything more standardized. Or at least had that as a category in the scoring? Guess it's nice to tweak it to see what it does. I only wanted to do this to make sure everything was working ok, as long as it is and my games run fast I don't care about the actual score.

Until some guy on the aquamark forum said he pwned me. That's it....I'm ordering phase change cooling systems and running dual sli mobos with 4 ocd 6800 ultra video cards along with 2 dual core processors and 10 gigs of ram. Powered by my 3000 watt 785 amp 4 rail diesel powered generator. And like 893 lcd lights freakin all over the whole thing like an xmas tree. With a huge alien with flames coming out of his eyes fighting a dragon who is eating one of my 15 hard drives on the side. And a 60 inch military prototype plasma screen 3200 by 2000 native res. Oh yeah, and it is all in an acoustically tuned room with 16 ss speakers. And the computer runs COMPLETELY silent, it is actually quieter than silence. Oh and I'm overclocking it to timings so low, you need a microscope to see them!

We'll see who will be pwned now.

I just did aquamark, got a score of 178,987. I think it's a little low cuz of the plasma screen. Try to fix that.

By the way, what is pwned anyway?

lol, its some chines typo from an old game from what i gather.

anyway, when i ran my p4 2.4c @ 2800 with a 6800gt i used to get around 54,000, that was just "as is" or my noirmal settings, quality, vsync, aa, af app controlled if that gives you an indication.

my 3200 @ 2475 with a stock 6800gt gives me 66,000 same settings so i think you are a bit low.

Try the Nvidia 76.44 drivers and set the slider to Quality, not to best performance!
Also disable the Vsync, it consumes a lot, it is not worthy!
Good luck!
Speed yes but quality too!
Use driver cleaner 3 to delete the remain old driver files from your HDD after uninstalling your old drivers and prior to the new install!
