Nice. As an apartment dweller, I have an Onix X-Sub. Not too powerful so it doesn't bother anybody, but at least I can hear the bass and sometimes feel it. Nobody's complained yet.

Sadly, the main deciding factor in this last round of apartment hunting was "how will my system work in here"...this is also why I'm on the first floor. Luckily I think this building's pretty well built so I can get away with a lot.

Heh, being a home theater enthusiast is tough when you live in an apartment. Fortunately, I live on the second floor of my complex, right above my own garage, so I don't really bug any of my neighbors.

not to thread jack but is there any home theater in a box or speaker kit that can be easily used to supplement a tv? Like a 2.1 kit or such

I bought a sub when I lived in an apt. I then returned it because the neighbours complained.

I bought a sub when I lived in a townhouse. I rarely used it, but only on low, or when I knew the neighbours weren't around.

I now live in a detached home. :)

pretty much any decent computer 2.1 kit will sound better than built in speakers.

I've decided to not bother with a sub until I have a house. Also means I'll have more money to spend on it when I get it ;)

I have no downstairs neighbor. I'm on the second floor above the garage entrance (which isn't as bad as I'd thought it would be).

Of course, I still haven't bought a sub yet :-(

I am without a sub and will be until I buy a house which will hopefully be later this year. My mains produce a decent amount of bass (it doesn't shake the apartment but it's clean and at a reasonable volume)so I survive for the time being.

^^^ Yeah, that's how I felt. With a good set of fronts with reasonable bass, it's a reasonable compromise... and you don't have to worry about your neighbours banging down your doors.

In a house, no more such constraints.

My neighbors hate me. My sub is front firing but its 250w. And when I drink I crank the tunes up to 5 and the whole building shakes. Aahhh, pre-war construction at its best.

I'm suprised my neighbors haven't complained. I was watching Wanted the other day and rocked my living room

I had an eDesigns A2-300 in a student apt way back when. Needless to say, I hardly ever got the chance to really let it loose :p

I have a 15" Tempest Sonosub (waist high, 24" diameter) driven by a 750W rack mount amp. Needless to say it doesn't get turned on much.

Had a lot of fun with it when I first built it. I was renting a house & would rattle dishes in the cabinets on the floor above. Highly entertaining. :D

Damn I knew I forgot something!!! :brokenheart: About 5min ago, after posting about the HTPC I've been trying to build for the better part of the year, I came accross this thread.... For the apt. dwellers... when you buy a house just remember to leave some $$$ aside for some speakers.... Damn I'm retarded. I have no sound but my tv's speakers....
