So I'm trying to get a job out the bay area and I thought I could go month-to-month with my lease here in KC until I find something.

Turns out there is NO option for a month-to-month lease at this complex and breaking a lease costs 2 months rent + security deposit. For me thats like a $1200 expense.

My lease ends Sept 31st and I have to let them know I'm gonna move out by July 31st. Moving to another complex within KC would be kind of a waste because I'm trying to leave the city anyway.

Not sure what to do now...this sucks

I dunno...but if it isn't and they're still getting away with it...doesn't surprise me.

That totally sucks, of course I wish 2 mos. rent and a security deposit were only $1200 for me instead of about $3K...of course then I'd be living in KC and not sunny SoCal...

yeah...luckily if I get something in the bay I have a friend to stay with for a little while to make up for some moving costs.

I just don't want to have to hand those skanky bitches in my complex $1200 because I don't find a job till september.

Yes it's legal and whats the problem. Pack up your stuff and put it in storage and find a place that rents weekly or monthly.
