APS or 35mm?

I'm considering a film camera.

I know I know... you guys are all about the digital stuff. For the $150 price range, can I get better pictures with a digital than I can with a camera like the Cannon ELPH? If you don't think so, enlighten me.

So, here are my three considerations: 35mm, APS, or digital. The absolute price cap is $180.
 
APS costs more and has less quality compared to 35mm, but if you're like most people who just take snapshots, it doesn't matter.
