Ok, so there are too many products on the market right now, and I havent found anything that resembles a good roundup, so I'm asking here for some help. Mostly I'm being throw by ATI's XT, XL, Pro, XTPE, XT Pro, LMNOP Pro2, whacko numbering, but nVidia's doing it too, to a lesser degree.

If there's a post or chart somewhere that ranks most/all of the current cards, please feel free to just link it.

9800 pro < ??? < ??? < ??? < ??? < 7800 GTX?

With Battlefront 2 around the corner, I need to upgrade by 9500 Pro =)

Thanks in advance.

what is your budget?

for ati, its xtpe>xt>xl>pro

for nvidia its ultra>gtx>gt and bigger numbers are better.

I used to swear I'd never spend more than $200 on a video card. You used to be able to get a rocking card for ~$150-190, but the lack of competition in the market's killed that.

I'll prolly go for something like $250, and I'd prefer ATI - had 2 bad experiences in a row with nV cards.

A, I right thinking the 7800 GT's like 2x the speed of the 6800 ultra? Do the 850s fall in the upper or lower end of that range?

I like this list. It's fairly close to what I would pick. My only changes would be that I would rank the 6600GT above the x800GT, and the x800pro above the 6800 vanilla. An unlocked 6800 vanilla I'd probably place just under the x800xl, for those that are interested.

At least someone finally realized that x800xt pe is faster than x850xt.
Also, I didn't know that x700pro is faster than 9800pro.
Everybody seems to be forgeting the 9800xt also.
