I remember the time when I was TDY South Korea and, while cruising through Seoul I saw a pair of uniformed cops pin this guy on the hood of a parked car and proceed to cut his hair to acceptable government standards. But that was then, so I guess North Korea will have caught up with the south in another hundred years or so.

Sounds like 70s or 80s. Did you know SK had curfew after midnight? Also civilians couldn't travel outside of their country until 1987.

Pretty much a dictatorship under the guise of democracy.
