What kind of questions are ok to ask when offered a job but before accepting?

Are there some to avoid?

All of your questions should have been asked/answered during the interview process.

When the job is offered, the only things I would ask is for time to think about the offer and a start date. Maybe a counter offer....

How much?
How long (temp vs permanent)?
When start?
Probationary period?
Moving expenses?
Openness to expressions of sexuality in the workplace?
Necessary paperwork for any benefits offered (health, life, 401k, etc)?

If someone asked me that question, I would rescind the offer immediately.

salary/benefit negotiation or time to consider offer. doesnt hurt to ask for an offer letter either. depending, the company may only offer to send one if you verbally accept their offer first but written documentation is always a good thing to ask for.

Ask about their policy on dating co-workers, then ask them if they mind if you bring guns to work with you.

Ask if assless chaps are OK every day or just on Tuesdays.

Is your office going to be big enough to run a small prostitution ring from?

What is the company's stance on sexual harassment?

GEORGE COSTANZA: "Was that wrong? Should I have not done that? I tell you I gotta plead ignorance on this thing because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing was frouned upon, you know, cause I've worked in a lot of offices and I tell you peope do that all the time."

My company only allows them on casual friday AND you have to donate $3 to charity for the privilege.

To the OP, I'd be more concerned about the quality of the blow they provide. If it is street grade you are better off just using your own.

Never, I repeat NEVER ask about the dead body in the corner. In fact, do not even let on that you even noticed it. You wouldn't want them to think you aren't a team player.

Necessary paperwork for any benefits offered (health, life, 401k, etc)? - That is not started until you are actually on the payroll

Those are benefits that should have been explained to you during interviews. Filling them out is at the discression of HR

Review periods/raise policy, vacation/days off, benefits. All of this should have been brought up during negotiations.

"Do you block forums.anandtech.com?" is the only important question.

"Pics?" would be a close second.
