Appropriate gift for new mother...

So heres the deal:

My sister (20) is going to have her first child later this week. Whats the appropriate gift to send? roses? a certain color?

My brother in-law gets a good luck and a "I hope the sleepless nights are worth it" ccard.

My favorite gifts after having my kids were things to pamper ME!

Like purfume, lotion, bath salts, ect. As lots of people did the flowers which just die anyhow and balloons or things for the baby. I also liked it when I got a plant that I could repot and always remind me of the special moments when my child was born.

Dunno that is just me. And you can have like an Avon Lady, Mary Kay, Jafra, or sales clerk at a Dept store help you pick the stuff out if you are not good at that sort of thing.
