Appropriate attire for a friend's wedding?

I'm not in the wedding party or anything; I was thinking a pair of khaki slacks, brown shoes, brown belt, and a white dress shirt should suffice, maybe a brown tie if need be.

Am I thinking too casual?

Aww, crap, any idea what I should get for a gift? Maybe just a card?

black tie with khaki slacks?

get a gift card to bed bath and beyond, and you need a tie, and not black.

Yeah, I'm not giving pics of someone who was such a close friend from high school... but, yeah, she's a cutie, I had a crush on her for a good two years before I accepted the fact she didn't like me "like that".

And, as far as I know, they're not registered anywhere, none of that type of info came with their announcement and she didn't mention it when I've spoken with her.

Brown tie, then? Dang, the only other tie I have is a Loony Tunes one.

just a card? as in gift card or "happy wedding" card? an average wedding cost about $30-100 per person, so don't expect a thank you card if you are just giving a card.

You know, you'd think I'd start thinking about this any time other than the night before their wedding.

as for the gift, why not give the couple cash?

buy a card, wish them congrats and whatnot in there, and slot a 50$ bill in it too?
just to cover their losses?

I incurred about 150$ per person during my wedding, and all my relatives gave cash gifts so it wasn't that bad. :)

Whatever you get throw in enough pez dispensers. Did this at a friends wedding. They said it was the best gift they got.

Get something that you think they will use in their home.

No kidding... every time Kohls has a big sale I check out their stuff. I have three ties and I don't think I paid more than $15 for them combined, lol.
