My university offers a 4-year study abroad program for Japan. I really want to join it, but i'm already on my first year of college.
There are lots of scholarships to pay for it, so I don't think that would be a problem.

Here is the website for more information: http://www.chiba-u.ac.jp/EN/student/intl/ungrapro.html

Let me know what you think.

Its in Chiba, just west of tokyo, like an hour walk or so from Tokyo I think.

heh, chiba is east of tokyo...

hour walk from tokyo? heh, have fun walking ~20 miles.

from the map it was in the boundaries of tokyo's city limits.
I honestly have no clue how close it is..

excellent. you can do well with japanese, and I'm sure you'll have a blast in japan. A friend of mine recently got a job as a translator for a japanese business man, she loves it.

Riverside should have a year program though.. I know Irvine does.

I'm applying for it next year after I complete the required Japanese courses.

My goal in life is to be a Japanese businessman with a "translator".

I'm seriously thinking of doing a TESOL thing in south korea (go and teach english to elementary school kids for a year).. all you need is a degree which I already have and a years worth of your time.. the pay is decent ~$1,500 U.S. a month with living accomodations provided.. I'm still very unsure I wish the website had a link to where you could talk to people who have done it (it seems far too easy to do, you don't even need any teaching credentials, just a degree)
