Applying for German Visa?

If you are a US citizen you can go to Germany without a visa for 3 months. Stays longer than that require a visa (at least they did a couple years ago when I went to Germany). When you get your passbook, just ask for the rules and if you need a visa they'll give you the forms you need.

US Passport holders dont need a visa to go anywhere in the EU. There might be a time limit of how long you can stay there though, maybe 6 months.

Edit: Oh, you're a permanent resident, not a citizen. What country's passport do you currently hold?

I think Dullard is correct. How long are you going for and for what reasons?

If you're going as a student, your university should help you to get a student visa. The same would apply if your company is sending you there.

More info here

You'll need to apply for a visa since you're a US permanent resident.

Although if your country of citizenship is from one that does not require a visa, you might not have to apply (not sure about this).

I'm a US permanent resident, and I was born in Hong Kong. But I don't have a passport from HK, so I'm in a very odd position in trying to get some travel documents for a business trip...
