Applying AS5

I recently took off my heatsink, an si-120, to do a vmod on my board (worked great). It had been a while since I had put on a heatsink, so I sort of forgot some of the better ways to put on the thermal grease. Well, I took it off again, and thought to myself "Hey, the amount REMAINING on the cpu is probably what I should have put on the first time." So I just cleaned off the heatsink and put it back on

Yep, no problem! Might cool better now...

so you don't have any thermal paste on your cpu at all now?

no he just cleaned the heatsink, and left the paste that was on the processor alone.

and you did a vmod? Dude, clean it up, the easiest and the most idiot-proof method IMHO is the grain in the middle trick.

Why? I'm getting better temps than I was.

The VMod is working perfectly. I used masking tape, it's a clean connection.

There IS paste on the cpu...about half as much as was on there the first time, because i cleaned off the heatsink and put it back on...There was still paste on the cpu.

3. realizes he has put on too much AS5
4. Puts HSF back on without adding any more AS5

Put another way -- a little bit of grease is just as good as too much!
