applying a plastic screen protector

i'm applying a screen protector (little plastic film) to my iaudio x5 and i always get a few bubbles that are very annoying...its gotten to the point that I think i need to clean the film or something...it probably has fingerprints all over it.. i've been using a credit card to apply it, but that just doesn't work...

so i have 2 questions:
1. how to clean the film, making sure it keeps its sticky-ish property
2. how to apply it so i don't get any air bubbles

try to blow it with a dryer?

hmm where to find a hair dryer
I bought a nifty one for 3$ at the thrift store.. Has low, medium and high heat, and low and high fan settings.

Put tape over 90% of the intake, remove the thermal safety switch... boom, instant heat gun. 😉 lol...

When you come to an air bubble get a sewing needle and puncture it.. you wont be able to see it. I saw this on one of those home improvement shows where they were putting plastic on a window.

Wet the surface you are applying the film on with soapy water. Apply film while surface is still wet with soapy water. You can move it around because it is slick. Squeegee the air bubbles out. Let dry. Believe it or not, when it drys, there is no visible residue from the soap. That's how I apply window tinting. It's easy and it works.

Just be very careful you don't let any water leak into it. Or disassemble it first. Good workmanship takes time and attention to detail.

don't want to void the warranty...i guess i could try applying a very small amount of soap solution to the plastic film itself. I'll try that if i don't get any other ideas..

I'm wary of the needle idea because eventually the holes might get larger and dust might get stuck underneath.

anyway here's a picture of the bubbles...theres a lot of them so you can see why it is annoying:

It was rather simple for me when I did it to a digicam LCD and my smartphone screen. As soon as you apply it, squeegee it right away to get most of the bubbles out, but you'll still have some left. But if you leave it alone, it seems to work itself out after a while. I used the screen protector bought from Staples... $10 for about 15 of them and they work great.
