How long will that take? I was too cheap to pay another $60 for expedited service

Had a co-worker who just applied for his family and they all got their passports in 3 weeks.

Applied for my baby's US passport from a Taiwanese consulate. They called us to come pick it up in less than a week.

1 month.

"Ordinarily, within 6 weeks." From the US Dept of State website.

If the potential 6 weeks is too long, you can call the passport center and have it changed to expedited service and they'll take a cc number over the phone. I had to do exactly that when I thought it would only take 2-3 weeks but I was leaving for vaca in 4 and I didn't want to take the chance.

Because of the wait here in the US, it takes longer

There are no Taiwanese consulate here in the states...
OMGWTF???! REALLY???

To spell it out for those who ride the short bus: smaller US consulates in foreign countries often provide better/faster service. My wife got her green card about two months after applying for it, my daughter got her Certificate of Birth Abroad in about fifteen minutes, and (as previously stated) they got her US passport prepared in less than a week.

When my wife and I got ours, it took about 2 and a half weeks, I think. That was a couple of years ago, though. I think it depends on how many apps are pending.

We applied for ours on Saturday and were informed that it would take approximately 8 weeks because of the huge rush before Dec. 31.

They told me it would take 4 to 8 weeks when I applied for mine in July. I ended up getting mine in less than 3 weeks

Good for you.

Welcome to civilization. 😉

Seriously, probably a month.

-edit-
