Applications continue to run in processes after exited.

I'm running Vista SP1.. Whenever i have these programs open and close them from the system tray, they continue to run in the background. They are still open and using memory when i check in task manager.. This also makes the system hang when i try to shut it down.. It does eventually shut down after a few minutes or so which isn't really acceptable.

It first happened in Vuze and i uninstalled it for this reason, but now i have uTorrent and the same thing happens.

Anyone else experience this?

Edit: Also, i can't re-open the application until i restart because it reports that its already running.
